Ali Bedni Bugyal- Trek Through Alpine Meadows
We believe that trekking in the Himalayas is not just about conquering the high peaks or reaching the highest passes but it is also about experiencing every aspect of the mountains and the journey.
Ali Bedni Bugyal, the largest high altitude alpine meadow in Asia is located in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. It showcases the Himalayas in their raw form, not just from the summit, but from the moment the trek begins. As soon as you begin trekking from the starting point, you will witness the stunning views that will surely keep you entertained till the end.
Imagine being surrounded by yards and yards of greenery, under clear blue skies and with views of snowy peaks. This is what Dayara Bugyal offers you, endless beauty. During the winters these yards of greenery turn into pristine white, fully covered with snow.
The surrounding meadows and mountains will make you feel how tiny you are, and the crisp air will surely refresh you. The wide spreading meadows are indeed a sight to behold.
With majestic mountains in the backdrop and their floral diversity, they create beautiful frames for photography. The meadows remain beautiful throughout the year, with changing vistas.
While trekking on the Ali Bedni route the trekkers not only enjoy the beautiful views but also get to witness the cultural beauty of Himalayan region. They cross several small temples, and visit the places from where the famous Raj Jat yatra passes by. The Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra is a famous religious procession that takes place every 12 years to honor the local goddess Nanda Devi.
Also, your journey does not end with Ali Bedni meadows, you also get a chance to visit another pleasant wonder, the Bedni Kund. Bedni Kund is a serene lake surrounded with magnificent mountain views. The lake in winters is covered with a sheet of snow, while during the rest of the months it reflects and magnifies the beauty around it. From here you get a closer sight of Nanda Ghunti and Trishul Peak, offering you a sight you would have hardly ever witnessed.
Major Attractions of Ali Bedni Bugyal Trek
- Ali Bugyal: Ali Bugyal is a vast meadow, spreading endlessly that will amaze you with its spellbinding views. The meadows make you feel lively after a slightly tough climb. You can take a break and soak in as much beauty as you can because it is difficult to capture its real beauty in camera, it has beauty in every frame and everywhere you turn your head. Mount Trishul and Mt. Nanda Ghunti in the background adds more beauty to the frames.
- Bedni Bugyal: Bedni Bugyal is another serene alpine meadow that you will visit on the next day. It is also an enchanting meadow that is colorful with wildflowers during spring and white during winters with snow. The views of the mountains from the meadows are worth the trek. You can get a closer view of Mt. Trishul from here.
- Bedni Kund: You can also visit the Bedni Kund, which also has a mythological story attached to it. The Bedni Kund is a lake that in winters remains frozen, otherwise filled with fresh water that reflects the majestic peaks and the surroundings. It is a beautiful sight that relishes all of your stress and tiredness and is a great place for photography.
- Panoramic views: You get a beautiful view of the meadows along with majestic mountains in the backdrop. Some of the major peaks you can spot are Nanda Ghunti, Chaukhamba, Neelkanth and Mt. Trishul.
